From July 1 , 2011 , Microsoft Developers or IT Professionals have to spend more money to get certified by Microsoft in specific areas . The Price change will be effective in india  from August 1 , 2011

This came as an announcement from Microsoft where the retail price of mid-range Microsoft Certification exams will increase worldwide .
The following Certifications are slated for price increase .

• Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
• Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
• Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD)
• Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
• Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD)
• Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD)
• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)

The new fee structure will let the company improve testing flexibility and security in various ways and develop new certification tiers.

Note that the Microsoft Learning does not anticipate that this price increase will impact Microsoft Certified Master (MCM), Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification exams.

There is also a Silverlight based App that lets you calculate the price of the certification exam
